Pay more for a better brand., December 24, 2011

This blu ray player plays dvd’s and blu rays fine. I bought just the player, not the package with cables. I bought it because it was a good deal and I wanted built in wifi. It’s nice that wifi is built in but using the wifi isn’t easy. The unit is tempermental and sends connectivity messages on the screen while watching dvd’s. Even the menu to connect to wifi seems a little outdated. Mine loses signal alot making it difficult to watch netflix seemlessly. I would recommend spending a little more and upgrading to a brand with a stronger history.

I bought this Blue-Ray player because it was the least expensive thing I could get with a Wi-Fi. I’ve had it for a couple of weeks now. It wasn’t too difficult getting it set-up to my Wi-Fi network.

The interface is clumsy. The remote is weak. I have to angle the remote in weird positions to get it to actually work. The picture quality is pretty good. My advice would be to spend a little more for something better.

After being spoiled with my Blu-Ray/Netflix player in the living room I decided to break down and get one for the bedroom, however I was looking for something on the cheap side that could get the job done.

I am extremely happy with this purchase, I was able to get it open box at the local Best Buy (Dynex is the Best Buy brand) for $59.99 like new in box with all accessories.

As soon as I hooked up the player I went right into the network settings and found my wireless router for quick and easy access to Netflix. I then set up my Netflix account by going to the site on my PC and entering the code shown on the Blu-Ray player. I also did a firmware update which came through via the internet and took only a few minutes.

The DVDs load very fast, the Blu-Rays load pretty quick but are not instant. And the quality is great for a lower end player. The remote has all the necessary functions and shortcuts, and I am very happy with my purchase thus far.

The footprint of the player is very small, which is a good thing for people who lack space.

Due to it’s Netflix ability, great dvd and blu-ray playback, ability to play quite a few movie and disc formats, and the option to add a USB flash drive as hard drive back up. I am very pleased. Decent price, for a low-end player that does what it’s supposed to and hasn’t caused one issue.

Aesthetics:A (nice and normal black, decent looks, nothing to write home about but fine)
Speed: A (fast on dvds and netflix, a touch slower on Blu-ray, but still great.)
Quality: A (decent build quality, remote as well.)
Accessories: A (great remote with good shortcuts, sadly in the dark it’s a touch hard to see the buttons ;)
Manuals: A+ (too the point, simple install instructions and quick setup)
    Size: A+ (very small)

Features: Netflix, Cinema Now, Pandora all built in, and a wireless adapter for easy wifi/router access.
Formats it can read: BD-R/RE, DVD+/-RW, DVD, CD-R/RW, CD, WMA, MP3 and JPEG

Overall: A (very happy with my purchase for the cheapest bestbuy blu-ray player I came across.)
