Hangs Up,
Though it plays blu-ray discs just fine, it has a habit of crashing on exit from Netflix and VuDu. The only way to get out of the crash is to power off the box. In one case even that didn’t work and had to unplug it. All in all, not the best unit IMHO.

|Ok, but there has to be something better.,
Bought the Sharp BD-HP25U about 6 months ago and it has been a love-hate relationship since I hooked it up. It is easy to install and the menus are pretty intuitive. I’ve had no problems with Netflix or VUDU other than as mentioned in a previous review that it seems to hang sometimes trying to get out of those apps. It also seems to get really flaky at times and won’t open the disc tray or just freezes up which is only resolved by unplugging. Definitely not a stable system.
Yesterday I bought a 3D Vizio tv and was anxious to see a blu-ray 3D disc. I tried Polar Express and Final Destination. The player would not recognize either as a 3D disc. The TV works great with DirecTV’s 3D channels, so I can only assume it is a problem with the player. There is a menu option to display a warning when a 3D disc is played and that warning was never displayed so apparently the player is not recognizing the format. Went to Sharp’s web site and there is nothing for this player in the support section except the latest firmware which I had already installed via its Internet connection. They have no user forum, knowledge base, or even the manuals online.
I only give it two stars because when it works, it works great. However, I have spent a lot of time throwing 4 letter words at it and hopefully can find something that works better. Definitely stay away from it if you’re looking to get into 3D blu-rays.

|Purchased For A Gift,
I purchased this as a gift for my daughter. She says that hookup was easy
and that it works great. I also sent her a flash drive with the latest
firmware so she can update if necessary. Ive been using my sharp bluray
player (different model) for over a year with no problems, and thats
why I chose to purchase another Sharp.
